1. Who we are

Hamza News is the controller of personal data processed through the public website at hamzanews.com, including the Arabic, English, and Spanish editions.

If you have a privacy question or want to exercise your rights, email privacy@hamzanews.com.

The editorial CMS at cms.hamzanews.com is a staff-only tool. Accounts and cookies used there apply to journalists and administrators, not to ordinary readers.

2. What this site does

You can read articles, browse photos and videos, follow matches, search the site, and share stories. You do not need an account to use the public site.

Some optional features involve personal data: the newsletter, messages you send us, and search queries you type.

3. Personal data we collect

Information you provide:

• Newsletter: your email address, language preference (Arabic, English, or Spanish), and the date you subscribed.
• Correspondence: if you email us, we receive your address and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically

When you browse the site we also process limited technical data:

• First-party analytics events such as page views, article views, searches, video clicks, and match views.
• For those events we store the event type, a content identifier, the page language, the search query when relevant, a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address, an optional session identifier, a truncated browser user-agent, and limited technical metadata. We do not store the raw IP address for analytics.
• Server and security logs (IP address, user-agent, time, and requested URL) used to operate and protect the service.

What we do not collect

On the public site we do not:

• Ask readers to create an account.
• Collect payment or card details.
• Sell your personal data.
• Build advertising profiles of readers on hamzanews.com.

4. How we use personal data

We use personal data only to:

• Operate, secure, and improve the website.
• Send the newsletter if you asked for it.
• Understand which stories are most read and how people find content (editorial analytics).
• Answer support or privacy requests.
• Detect abuse, spam, and technical problems.

5. Legal bases

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another place with similar rules, we rely on these legal bases:

• Consent — newsletter emails and any optional feature you clearly opt into.
• Legitimate interests — delivering journalism, keeping the site secure, and measuring aggregate readership with privacy-friendly first-party analytics.
• Legal obligation — when we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

The public site puts the language in the URL (for example /ar or /en), so ordinary browsing does not need a language cookie.

We may use strictly necessary cookies or similar storage to keep the site secure and reliable. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on the public site.

Staff who sign in to the CMS receive separate authentication and security cookies on cms.hamzanews.com. Those cookies are not used to identify public readers.

7. Newsletter

When you subscribe in the footer, we store your email and the language you were using so we can send updates in the right language.

We do not share your newsletter address with advertising networks.

To stop receiving emails, or to delete your address, write to privacy@hamzanews.com from the same inbox when possible. We will remove you from the list.

8. Analytics

Hamza News uses first-party, privacy-friendly analytics. IP addresses recorded for analytics are hashed with SHA-256 before they are stored. We use this information to power features such as “most read” and to understand coverage in aggregate — not to identify you as a named person.

If we later enable additional third-party measurement tools, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for consent.

9. Third-party services

Some pages include or link to services we do not control:

• Video platforms (for example YouTube) when a video is embedded or opened.
• Social networks (YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook) when you follow a link or use a share control.
• Hosting, content delivery, and email infrastructure providers who process data on our instructions.

Their policies apply

If you interact with those services, their own privacy policies apply. We recommend reading them before signing in to a third-party platform.

10. When we share data

We share personal data only when needed:

• With infrastructure and service providers acting on our instructions (hosting, email delivery, security).
• When the law requires it, or to protect our readers, staff, or the site.
• If the publication is reorganized, data may transfer to a successor operator under this policy or a successor policy.

We do not sell data

We do not sell personal data.

11. How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as we need it:

• Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe or we receive a valid deletion request.
• First-party analytics events: typically up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated.
• Security and server logs: typically up to 90 days, unless we must keep them longer to investigate abuse or a legal claim.
• Correspondence: as long as needed to complete your request and keep a brief record of how it was handled.

12. International processing

Hamza News is operated for a global audience. Personal data may be processed in the country where you are, and in countries where our hosting and service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

13. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete data, including your newsletter address.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Receive a copy of data you provided (portability).
• Withdraw consent, for example for the newsletter.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

How to make a request

To make a request, email privacy@hamzanews.com. We may need to confirm that you control the email address in question before we act.

14. Children

Hamza News is a general-interest sports news site. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted an email address to us, contact privacy@hamzanews.com and we will delete it.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this page when our practices or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Please read the new version when you return to the site.
